Be an original, not a copy. Our fit process since 1981 is...
One-on-one discussion about your running goals, injuries, surfaces you run on, current fitness level, and any other running or fitness topic that's relevant.
Review of your gait. We'll watch you walk and analyze your level of pronation or supination, explain what those words mean and measure your feet and arch length.
Investigate your shoe options. We'll discuss what shoes will work for you and why. In most cases, we recommend pairs from several brands that will help you reach your goals, reduce injuries, and are suitable for your current and expected fitness levels.
Get on the treadmill. Although not required, we encourage everyone to try your shoes on our treadmill. Kind of like test driving a car, the only way to truly know if the shoes work is to try them out in action.
In-depth discussion of what you're thinking, and most importantly feeling, about the shoes you're trying on. If you're interested we can either bore or enlighten you with the technical specs about each shoe you're considering and explain the differences between each shoe you've tried.
Narrowing down your choices. After you try them on the treadmill and discuss with us about ones you're considering, together we'll get down to a final decision about the shoes you'll use to be your own original.
Accuracy check. When you get to that final decision, we'll do a final check over to make sure the fit is correct, lacing patterns fit your foot type correctly, offer final suggestions and answer any other questions you may have.
Let us take the guess work away. Not sure when you'll need a new pair? If you leave your email and we know your average weekly mileage, we'll contact you a few weeks before you reach the maximum recommended miles on your shoe. We'll even let you know when a new model of your favorite arrives in the store and if your current one goes on sale!

The Keys to a Better Fit
As a run specialty store, we encourage all customers to go through a full fitting process before purchasing a shoe. This process will help us determine the correct category of shoes and guide you to the best shoe for your feet and activity.
It's always a good idea to bring your previous shoes as that will help us decide what will work for you.
As you try on our suggestions we ask you to take them for a spin on our treadmill to ensure that they're right for you.
If you are new to running or walking and have never gone through a proper fitting process, we encourage you to stop in. It will typically take about 30 minutes.
