7:00 PM Every Thursday @ Local Pubs
The Elkins Park Beer Runners (EPBR), formed in 2016, is inspired by the Fishtown Beer Runners (FBR) and is an official Beer Runner chapter. The Elkins Park Beer Runners combine responsible running with responsible drinking in the interest of science. We gather once a week to run three to five miles, and conclude each run at a pub for a beer or two.
Goals: 1) to encourage people to exercise by running (or walking) 2) to provide friendly camaraderie 3) to support and raise funds for non-profit organizations and charitable causes 4) to promote the responsible enjoyment of QUALITY beer 5) to support local tavern owners and breweries |
How it Works:
Locations will be announced on the group page every week. As with a typical 5K, faster runners will lead, followed by slower paced runners, followed by walkers. No matter your pace, you will always find others to run/walk with and will not be left behind. There are no dues, and everyone is responsible for buying their own beer. EPBR DISCLAIMER: By participating in a Elkins Park Beer Runners (EPBR) group run or event, you acknowledge that running can be a dangerous sport and that you alone are responsible for your safety and/or actions. You should ensure that you are physically fit enough to participate in EPBR runs and events. The organizer, other members of Elkins Park Beer Runners, and our running locations are not liable for your safety and/or actions. |

Lauren SiegelMy name is Lauren Siegel, I started running in 1975 at the age of 15, when a planned professional ballet career ended with an injury. I then began running, and haven’t stopped since, I’ve run over 103,000 miles in the last 44 years, joining the 100k Mile Club, which few women are on. Since October, 1999, I’ve been a Streak runner, which means I haven’t missed a day of running in over twenty years, crazy, I know, but it keeps me almost sane! I’ve run competitively for many of those years, competing in hundreds of Road race distances from 5k to Marathon. While I can’t run six minute miles like I used to, I’m happy and proud that my race times still Age Grade to the times I ran in my younger years. I now am Long Distance Race Coordinator for the USATF team I compete for, Philadelphia Masters Track and Field Club. I also am on the USATF Long Distance Running Committee for the MidAtlantic Region. And of course, co captain of Elkins Park Beer Runners!
